Plaza Mayor

Puerta del Sol and Gran Vía
Kilometer Zero, located in Puerta del Sol, is the city’s heart and the beginning of all roads in Spain. From its square, walking through the pedestrian streets of Preciados, El Carmen, or La Montera, leads you to the lively atmosphere of Gran Vía.
Royal Palace and La Almudena Cathedral
Every first Wednesday of the month, you can witness the changing of the guard. The Royal Palace is the largest in Europe in terms of size and houses numerous artistic treasures. Next to it stands the Cathedral of Madrid, La Almudena, constructed in the 19th and 20th centuries.
Golden Triangle of Art
The Art Triangle defines the area where the city of Madrid’s most prestigious museums are found: the Prado Museum, the Reina Sofía and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum. These three are located close to each other and feature permanent collections by renowned artists, along with temporary exhibitions of great cultural and artistic significance.
El Rastro
Antiques, books, clothes, paintings, furniture… The famous Rastro flea market is held outdoors every Sunday and public holiday throughout the year, covering a wide area from Plaza del Cascorro to Paseo de las Acacias.

Malasaña is the neighborhood of the famous Madrid countercultural movement. Around Plaza del 2 de mayo, you can see the traces of the 80s and 90s through its legendary bars, some of which have been renovated and turned into restaurants today.
